Each Agape Community Fellowship church is locally governed by an elected group of elders and is incorporated as a non-profit organization.

Each congregation is interdenominational and home group based (also referred to as cell group or small group church). This means that the basic structure is people meeting in homes during the week and then coming together for a time of worship and teaching on Sunday morning.

Agape Community was originally planted by and remains a part of the Conservative Mennonite Conference network of churches, supporting the global administration, education (Rosedale Bible College) and mission (Rosedale Mennonite Missions) programs.

Agape uses cell resources and training from Dove Christian Fellowship International and The Cell Group People (TouchUSA). Agape has been influenced by the vision and training at Vineyard Christian Fellowship [VCF] in Anaheim, Indianapolis and Columbus. Many people from Agape continue to receive training from the VCF and many on the leadership teams have been to seminars or have graduated from the Vineyard Leadership Institute.
