Agape Youth| Home Groups Proposed Structure |
| Cell Groups are the basic foundation of everything that happens at Agape. These groups meet weekly in homes for a time of worship, discussion, prayer and fellowship. Each group consists of approx. 5 – 15 adults plus children. In addition to spending time together each week, the group exists for support, encouragement and accountability in following Jesus and His calling to “Go and Make Disciples…teaching them to obey all His commandments”. In order to accomplish this, each group is actively involved in praying for each other and for those who do not know Jesus. The groups routinely hold events geared toward welcoming people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. |
| During the Weekly Meeting |
|
Warm-Up Question: A question that opens up the evening. It is easily answered by all ages and usually relates to the discussion for the evening. The main purpose of this is to get to know each other better. (approx. 5-10 minutes)
Praise and Worship: A time of singing praise. Guitars, pianos, CDs or DVDs might be used to facilitate a time of worship. (approx. 5-10 minutes) Discussion: A time to apply God’s word to our lives. The goal is mutual Christian growth through shared understanding and application. Topics vary and may follow the sermon series. (approx. 30-45 minutes) Sharing and Prayer: A time to share prayer requests and pray. Time is spent praying for any personal items brought up. (approx. 20-25 minutes) Vision and Planning: A time to share about future events |
| Outside the Weekly Meeting |
|
Multiplication: When each group gets to approx. 15 adults, the group multiplies, forming two new groups.
Outreach Events: Each group plans events in order to include new people. Examples include cookouts, park days, etc. Event Planning: Each group takes part in planning one of the major Agape events like the Spring Party, Christmas Banquet or Vacation Bible School. Accountability Team: A sub-group, pair or triad that meets to encourage each other in living a godly life. Women's/Men's Meeting: A sub-group, gender specific meeting. This is a great way to get out, socialize or study the Bible together. Zone Leader: Each home group is part of a larger zone of 2 to 5 groups. A Zone Leader encourages home group leaders in the zone as they provide leadership to their individual home groups. Focus Groups: A subgroup within the groups existing for a short time period. Examples include book clubs, fishing partners, cooking clubs. These are designed to include the interests of people outside the group. Prayer Nights: Evenings of focused prayer and intercession for the group, individuals and others. Communion: The Lord’s communion is celebrated once a quarter in each group. |
| Caring For People |
| Cell Groups are the backbone of discipleship, evangelism and fellowship at Agape. They are the primary way in which people are cared for. Cell group leaders play an important role in keeping each group vibrant. The cell group will challenge you to grow in your Christian walk. Helping lead a group is a wonderful growing experience for believers. When groups become too large, they simply multiply. |
